Home Made Recipes for Nails

Cuticle softener
1 bottle of vitamin E oil

Rub the vitamin E oil on the cuticles of both feet and hands after bath or shower daily and at bedtime.

Herbaceous  Cuticle Conditioning Oil

  • 2 T sesame  or jojoba oil
  • 8 drops carrot  seed essential oil
  • 7 drops eucalyptus  essential oil
  • 5 drops peppermint  essential oil
  • 5 drops tea  tree essential oil
  • 3 drops oregano  essential oil

Combine ingredients.  Shake well before each use. Rub into nail and toenail cuticles following  bath or shower; while these oil helps prevent fungus, the strong  scent may be best to use at night. Store unused portion in tightly  sealed (preferably glass) container in a cool, dark, dry place for  6-12 months.

 Hard-as-Nails  Manicure Treat

  • 1T purified  water, luke - warm, but slightly cooled
  • 1T witch hazel  (preferably grain-alcohol based)
  • 1 1/2 t natural  honey
  • 1/2 t alum  powder

Mix above in a  low-profile bowl. Soak nails for 10-15 minutes, occasionally massaging  cuticles gently. Rinse with cool water. Discard unused portion.

Smoothing  Cuticle & Foot Scrub

  • 2 T fine sea  salt
  • 2 T castor  oil
  • 1 T wheat germ,  sesame, or kukui nut oil
  • 2-3 drops of  essential oil (optional)

Combine ingredients  in a bowl until well blended. Rub gently onto damp skin (apply to  dry skin cautiously for an invigorating treatment) in circular motions.  Rinse well or smooth off in bath. Store unused portion in tightly  sealed (preferably glass) container in a cool, dark, dry place for  up to 7 days.

When preparing mixtures and using fresh ingredients.  Always cut in the fresh fruits and vegetables etc last...the enzymes will remain as fresh as possible.

 Storage

Try and use dark glass jars and bottles for storage.   You need to avoid too much sunlight and oxygen getting to your mixtures.

Most of these recipes contain natural preservatives.

Keep mixtures in a cool place.  The refrigerator is preferable.  Refrigerate the mixtures containing fruit and or vegetables.

Natural preservatives:

 Acids:  Lemon juice and vinegar.

Alcohol: Vodka, witch hazel and brandy.

Essential Oils:  Tea Tree, eucalyptus oil and thyme.
